Philatelists' Memorabilia Recently, after grousing about postal rate increases, I rummaged around and found a variety of uncancelled stamps. Rediscovered those wonderful 22¢ stamps with strong images of four traditional Navajo rugs. Then used the Internet to learn more @ my favorite search engine, www.google.com. Entered the key words "navajo art stamp" (all three words inside quotations marks). Found dealers offering to sell the First Day of Issue cover dated September 4, 1986. The Stamp Museum also sells an inexpensive commemorative document "suitable for framing" with more historical information. For just a few dollars, a beautiful and genuine item of Navajo art and weaving history is available. -- Bruce Belknap |
